earthbending and natural land creatures
Asked by Bobby654 1 week ago
I wanna try to make an earthbending deck but a couple of questions arised with this. The first one is a land like Restless Prairie that has an effect which turns it into a creature for a bit. The other one is Awakened Skyclave Flip if it get's earthbent and dies what happens to it?
Another thing to note about Restless Prairie is that it's attack works as long as it's a creature, regardless of whether it become one through earth bending or it's own ability. The same is true of the other 'Restless' lands from Lost Caverns of Ixalan and Wilds of Eldraine, but is not true of older lands, such as Raging Ravine from Worldwake, which gains it's triggered ability from it's activation. 'Restless' lands that have keywords (like Restless Anchorage having flying) is also tied to it's activation and don't function off of Earthbending.

I'm going to use Earthbending Lesson's earthbend 4 for this, for simplicity's sake and reminder text.
If you target Restless Prairie with Earthbending Lesson, it becomes a 0/0 creature with four +1/+1 counters permanently (and other earthbending stuff). It also has an activated ability that makes it a 3/3 Llama creature. If you activate this ability, it becomes a 3/3, pumped to 7/7 with the counters, until end of turn when it goes back to a 0/0.
For the Awakened Skyclave Flip, it becomes a 0/0 with four +1/+1 counters instead of a 4/4, but that's a side point to the main question. When it dies and returns thanks to the earthbending ability, going off rule 712.14, "A double-faced card put onto the battlefield from a zone other than the stack enters the battlefield with its front face up by default." So when the earthbent Skyclave dies or is exiled, it's going to return as a tapped Invasion of Zendikar Flip.
