Double Strike

Asked by Kcin 9 years ago

So I brain farted.... Bad.

If a creature with double strike, say Drogskol Reaver , is blocked by a vanilla creature, like Storm Crow , I know the reaver deals both first strike damage and regular damage.... Do both sources get dealt to the storm crow? Or would the first strike damage kill it, and then the regular damage hit the opposing player?

Not unless your Drogskol Reaver is given trample. If that was the case, any damage greater than lethal would go through to the opponent.

In your example, all 6 damage would be dealt to the Storm Crow .

Neither.

First strike damage would kill Storm Crow , and the regular damage would not be dealt because it has nowhere to go. Drogskol Reaver would need trample to hit the defending player.

@MindAblaze!: Storm Crow will die in the first combat damage step.

State-based actions are checked between first strike and regular combat damage? I guess so if something like Warren Instigator s triggered ability can resolve.
