Does trample apply to creatures affected by Assault Formation?

Let's say I have the following cards on the battlefield: Assault Formation and Tree of Redemption, and I want to cast Rancor on the Tree of Redemption. (Giving it trample.) I then attack with my Tree of Redemption (using Assault Formation's ability.) Will my Tree hit for 13 points and trample?

Your Tree of Redemption will deal damage equal to it's toughness and have trample. If it is blocked by a 5/5 creature you will be able to assign 5 damage to the blocking creature and 8 damage to the defending player, for instance.
