Does Tetzimoc's ability trigger Heroic?

If I use Tetzimoc, Primal Death's ability where you put a prey counter on target creature, does it trigger Heroic ability, like Agent of the Fates's Heroic?

As per the reminder text (not actual rules, but still helpful) of Heroic, only spells that target the creature trigger heroic. Abilities like either one of Tetzimoc's do not.
