Does Satyr Firedancer count copies?

Asked by TheMountainLion 7 years ago

If I enchant Satyr Firedancer with Dual Casting, then burn my opponent with a burn spell, and then copy said spell with Dual Casting will it deal just as much to the creature as to the opponent (double what the spell says)? Or does Satyr Firedancer only count cast spells?

Whenever you copy a spell on the stack, the copy is also a spell but isn't cast unless the card copying it says you cast the copy. However, Satyr Firedancer doesn't care if a spell was cast or not, just if it dealt damage to an opponent.

It will count copies of instants or sorceries regardless of if the copy was cast or not.

It triggers twice.

Cards do only what they say, no more, and no less. Satyr Firedancer's ability triggers when an instant or sorcery spell you control deals damage to an opponent. Nothing requires the spell to have been cast.

I wish I could mark both as answers.
