Does Ruxa work with instant or equipement like Ring of Xathrid ? ?

Asked by Artizan81 2 years ago

Hello everybody,

I’m focus on a new Ruxa edh deck. Am i right if i play an equipment like Ring of Xathrid Is it an ability for the equiped creature ? The card doesn’t mention «has» or « gains »... will I lose the benefit of Ruxa's abilities?

Also with Heroic Intervention : if i play it ... my vanilla creature will assign their damages as though they weren't blocked with Ruxa in play ?

Thank you for clarification.

A player after 25 years of stop from France. Sorry for my bad written.

You're correct about Ring of Xathrid. The abilities are on the ring and not on the creature.

Heroic Intervention grants abilities to your creatures, so Ruxa no longer considers them as creatures without abilities. There is no point in combat where you can cast Heroic Intervention to prevent your creatures from dying to combat damage, but still have your creatures assign their combat damage as though they weren't blocked via Ruxa's ability.

Thank you very much.

This confirms the idea I had of it. It's a good point for Ring of Xathrid; as well to protect a vanilla creature as to protect Ruxa, Patient Professor

Hi again,

we have a disagree about Umbral Mantle ?

does ruxa's ability apply if a vanilla creature is equipped with Umbral Mantle and use it ?

Umbral Mantle grants an ability to the creature to which it's equipped, which you can identify because it says "Equipped creature has". Ruxa's second and third abilities won't apply to that creature.
