Does Phantasmal Image stay on the field if it copies Myth Realized when animated?

Asked by EverythingIsK 8 years ago

I'm really wishing this to be a yes, but the sad correct side of me is saying that Phantasmal Image dies as soon as he comes out when he copies an animated Myth Realized because he'll have no counters on him. I just want to make sure this is right, or if there is a way around this.

It will die.

As soon as a creature has toughness of 0 or less when it's on the battlefield, it gets moved to the graveyard when state based actions are checked.

It stays on the field.
Copy effects copy only what's printed on the card. Even though you're copying a creature with Phantasmal Image it will enter the field as a non creature Myth Realized with zero lore counters.

Draugo is correct - Phantasmal Image will be able to target an animated Myth because it is a creature, however being animated is not a copyable characteristic, and it enters the battlefield as a non-creature enchantment - from here, the Image will be able to animate itself if you pay , and just like the original Myth, you don't want to do that without having counters on it.
