Does Outlast trigger Prowess?

Outlast's reminder text says "Outlast only as a sorcery." Does this mean using the outlast ability counts as a sorcery (besides the obvious "do it only in your main phases")? Can it therefore trigger Prowess? e.g. if I outlast Mer-Ek Nightblade, does this trigger prowess on Monastery Swiftspear?

No. "Only as a sorcery" means "only during your main phase while the stack is empty and you have priority." Only cards with the type "sorcery" are sorceries. Abilities are never sorceries or any other card type, and they are never spells. They can't trigger abilities that care about spells.
