Does languish cause creatures to die.

so i cast Languish and there is a Elvish Mystic on the battlefield, does it die? i know it goes in to the graveyard, but is that technically considered dying. I heard that it is moved to the graveyard as a state based action, i ask because i was playing with Languish and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and i wanted to know if i got the tokens

"Dies" means "is put into a graveyard from the battlefield." That's it. It doesn't matter what causes the zone change, only that the move is from battlefield to graveyard. Anything that puts a creature permanent into a graveyard causes it to die.
