Does collected company creatures enter the battlefield at the same time?

Asked by mmmdonuts 9 years ago

Suppose I reveal Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and some other creature with Collected Company, can I put her on the battlefield first so her bolster will trigger?

No, all cards played this way would enter the battlefield at the same time. They would see each other enter, but she would not be on the battlefield in time to see the other one enter and so trigger her ability.

They all enter the battlefield at the same time and they all see each other doing that. That means your Anafenza will trigger for however many other creatures that enter the battlefield along with her from Collected Company.

By the way, the same is true for multiple creatures leaving the battlefield at the same time. An example to easily confuse this with is "Draw 2 cards", where you draw each card after another.

EddCrawley is only partly right. They do both come into play at the same time, which means they do see each other enter, which DOES mean that her triggered ability would go on the stack. They literally hit simultaneously, there's no delay between which would hit play first, its actually kind of counter intuitive to think that the Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit "would not be on the battlefield in time to see the one enter" since your first two premises to your explanation indicate just the opposite.

The creatures enter the battlefield at the same time but you still get what you want. Because of the way triggered abilities work, things that enter the battlefield simultaneously can trigger "ETB" abilities on each other. Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit will trigger from the other creature in your example.
