Does Clever Impersonator entering as a copy of a bestowed creature enchantment enter as an aura or creature?

Asked by chrizzilla 9 years ago

For instance, my opponent has a Chromanticore bestowed onto a Sagu Mauler, and I also have a Sagu Mauler, but sadly no Chromanticore. I do, however, have a Clever Impersonator. If I cast him and copy Cromanticore, I assume he enters as an enchantment creature, not an Aura. If I am wrong, and he does enter as an Aura, can I then attach him to Sagu Mauler, or would he then turn INTO a creature, or just die immediately?

He enters as a creature and stays that way, it certainly does not die immediately. Copy effects copy only the printed values of a card. You will get an enchantment creature - Manticore.

9/15/2013: If a permanent with bestow enters the battlefield by any method other than being cast, it will be an enchantment creature. You cant choose to pay the bestow cost and have it become an Aura.

the gatherer rule above should be read as "other than being cast for its bestow cost".

I figured as much but wanted to be sure.

The only reason I would have thought it died was due to some wonky thing where it enters as an aura but doesn't have the bestow modifier to say it becomes a creature instead of going to the graveyard.
