Does Bitter Ordeal work with discard?

Bitter Ordeal's Grave Storm ability says to copy it for each permanent that went to a graveyard this turn. Does this work if I discard Artifacts via say Thirst for Knowledge?

A permanent is a card or token on the battlefield. Cards in other zones are just cards (or spells, if they're on the stack).
Gravestorm counts permanents put into graveyards this turn, meaning it only counts objects that moved from the battlefield to the graveyard.
