Does a creature with hexproof/shroud have protection from boardwipe spells?

Asked by rog0325 2 years ago

Assuming a creature with lightning greaves is on the field when a card like Blasphemous Act is player, does the creature not take damage.

(i was confused because the shroud/hexproof description says it cant be the target but can it get caught up in a multi destroy spell

Hexproof, Shroud, and protection from "__" does not protect against boardwipe spells.

To help you remember, look for cards that specifically say the word 'target'.

For example, Hex is blocked by Hexproof/Shroud, while Damnation is not, due to the word 'target' on the cards.

Slight correction: protection usually doesn't stop board wipes ( Black Knight can be destroyed by Wrath of God ), but protection does prevent damage, unlike Hexproof or shroud, so protection from red can stop red board wipes ( Kor Firewalker is unharmed by Blasphemous Act ).
