Do they stay or do they go?

Asked by MindAblaze 8 years ago

I control a Zada, Hedron Grinder and I target him with a Chandra's Ignition. I also control two 2/2 ally tokens and another 3/3.

The first spell goes on the stack and then the copies for each creature I control go on the stack...the first copy resolves...then;

A) the copies continue to resolve using the last known power for the sources to determine the damage dealt, or

B) the copies fizzle as they no longer have legal targets.

Chandra's Ignition targets the creature that will serve as the source of the damage. If that creature dies before the spell resolves, then it won't deal any damage because the spell will fizzle.

If Chandra's Ignition didn't target the creature, it would resolve and use the LKI for damage determination.

So after the first copy resolves (second if I put one targeting a 2/2 on the stack first) all other copies and the original would fizzle.

Do note though that you could also combo this with Valorous Stance and make your creatues all indestructable first, allowing you to chain all of the chandras.
