Do death triggers work with the legendary rule

Asked by QuirkyOrc398 7 years ago

If I cast Dragonstorm and got two Ryusei, the Falling Star I would have to "choose one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards" as per the legendary rule. Would this trigger Ryusei's death ability? The rule doesn't say the creature is destroyed.

As long as Ryusei, the Falling Star goes to the graveyard, it will trigger it's when it dies ability. This includes going to the graveyard due to the legend rule. If it does not go to the graveyard do to something like Wheel of Sun and Moon or Rest in Peace it will not trigger.

As a general note: "Dies" just means "is put into a graveyard from the battlefield." This can be achieved through the legend rule, sacrifice, destruction, etc.

Is it the same with Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge? If one copy is send from the battlefield to the graveyard due the legendary rule, do I get a treasure at the end step?
