Do creatures that apply bolster have to consider themselves as a target?

Asked by InDirectX 9 years ago

Elite Scaleguard is placed on the battlefield. On the battlefield are a 2/4 and a 3/5. Does Elite Scaleguard have to place the counters on itself, or does it place it on the 2/4?

Bolster triggers when the creature enters the battlefield, so the creature with bolster is included in the creatures you chose from.

In your example, Elite Scaleguard gets the counter.

Also, note that bolster does not target. You make the choice as the ability resolves.
