Counterflux overloaded

Asked by WBG 5 years ago

So, I'm just a little confused about what is the point in paying the overload cost on Counterflux.

Does it counter one spell and then essentially tell your opponent, you may as well not play any more spells this turn because I'll counter all of them?

What if in combat, an opponent plays Giant Growth on an attacking creature, and then plays another Giant Growth, and I respond with an overloaded Counterflux, does that counter just the second giant growth? What about the first? If they play a third Giant Growth, will it counter just the 2nd and 3rd?

Essentially it counters all spells on the stack, so basically if neither of the growths have resolved then you can counter both spells with one card. It's especially helpful in the control vs control matchup where you tend to get into counter wars

Also counters every copy of a storm spell.

If an opponent casts a spell with storm you'll be able to counter all copies of the spell, instead of just one.
