Copying Signal the Clans

Asked by DemonDragonJ 4 years ago

If a player copies Signal the Clans , can they take a shortcut by searching their library for six creatures cards and putting two at random into their hand, or much they search separately for each instance of the spell? I know that copying Demonic Tutor or a similar spell allows a player to take a shortcut and search their library for two cards, but the game still considers them to have searched and shuffled twice, but StC may be different.

Shortcutting is something that's done to save time when it has no practical impact on the game. You can shortcut double Demonic Tutor because there's no point in shuffling up only to tutor again.

It's worth considering that the two creatures you don't get with the first resolution of Signal the Clans spell will be back in the deck for you to find when you go to resolve the second copy. You could shortcut Signal the Clans if you wanted to, but either only in the way you said if you're sure that you won't want to tutor up any of the same creatures for the second resolution of the spell. A more reasonable way to shortcut it would be to not shuffle in the remaining two creatures, but just keep the ones you want to tutor for again to one side to shortcut shuffling them back into your library and then finding them again.
