Companion Identity Rules

Asked by NyxDragon 2 years ago

Can someone please explain to me how companion identity works? Does it have to match with your commander or do they add extra to use? Id like to have Prossh as my commander but I would also like to add blue to the deck so id assume a companion may help with that. I dont think it does, but want verification.

Companions must match the color identity of your commander, similar to normal hybrid mana cards. Unless your LGS or playgroup has their own rulings, of course.

You can't run Lurrus as companion for Teshar, for example.

You also have to meet all the companion requirements as while that is why lurus only has three valid commanders was two but there is a new one from Harry Potter I mean Strx Haven.

Treated as any other card would in the deck, basically. It's not a commander, and therefore cannot alter the color identity of the deck.
