Comander damage dealt to comander planeswalker

Asked by drhumbra 8 years ago

I would like a little clarification here on this. Let's say I have my planeswalker comander out Daretti, Scrap Savant and an opponent attacks me with their comander. If they declare they are attacking daretti as a planeswalker does that damage count towards the 21 of comander damage? Follow up is if they deal comander damage but do not declare they are attacking daretti directly, will the damage dealt (assuming no blockers) reduce the loyalty? Not sure if this has been asked before and I appreciate your time answering, couldn't find this on the commander rules or maybe I am interpreting them wrong.

The commander damage rule applies to combat damage dealt by a commander to a player. It doesn't count damage dealt to anything else.

Your opponent must declare whether they are attacking you or Daretti, Scrap Savant. If they do not make a declaration, you must ask for it.
