Champion of Lambholt token interaction

Asked by LordVonChimp 2 years ago

Although I'm pretty sure this works, I would like someone to confirm this.

If I have a Champion of Lambholt in play, then have an effect that makes 4 token copies of it at the same time.

Firstly, they do all count as creatures entering the battlefield to trigger the +1/+1 counters, but secondly, would the four tokens all see each other enter and get 3 x +1/+1 counters each right away?

Yes and yes. Token copies coming into play are creatures coming into play, and if they enter the battlefield simultaneously (idk what effect you're creating the tokens with, but let's say kicked Rite of Replication to have some text that does this), they'll all see each other entering the battlefield and trigger. You'll put 3 +1/+1 counters on each of them and 4 on the original.

Polaris is entirely correct if you are creating the tokens simultaneously, such as with the replacement effect of Esix, Fractal Bloom off of Deep Forest Hermit 's enter the battlefield effect. I did want to address another case of the tokens entering sequentially though. If you're duplicating an spell or ability, such as casting Fated Infatuation replicated thrice due to Djinn Illuminatus 's ability, each spell will resolve one at a time, so the original Champion of Lambholt will still get 4 counts, and one of the copies will get 3, another 2, another 1, and the final one won't get any. It really depends on how you're making the copies and if it's actually simultaneous.

Thanks guys, it's the Esix, Fractal Bloom way of things. Also looking at Champion of Lambholt as a target for Blade of Selves , just needed to be sure this was exactly how it works, hoping to pull it off with Doubling Season on the board at some point for added unblockable stupidity!
