Casting Elder Deep-Fiend

Asked by BanoMD 6 years ago

I'm thinking about creating a deck using cards like Nissa, Steward of Elements and Champion of Rhonas to cast large creatures like Elder Deep-Fiend.

The wording on Elder Deep-Fiend, however, specifies that the card needs to be cast. Would it's ability to tap 4-target permanents trigger if it were put onto the battlefield using either Nissa, Steward of Elements or Champion of Rhonas?

Nope. The "when you cast" ability on the eldrazi creatures does not trigger if they are put into play from another ability. You need to pay mana and pit the creature on the stack to get that trigger.

No.

Putting something on the field is not the same thing as casting it.

You're looking for effects like Aetherworks Marvel, which explicitly tells you to cast the card.
