Can you get double lands with Knight of the White Orchid?

Asked by mickslash77 7 years ago

If I got to play Knight of the White Orchid can I still play a land from my hand this turn as well? Also do I have to Knight of the White Orchid first or can I play a land first, still having fewer than my opponent, and then play Knight of the White Orchid for the land pull from the deck?

yes either way. You not are playing a land with the ability of the knight, the Knight's ability puts one in play. You are still able to play the one land a turn.

A spell or ability that gets a land from somewhere and puts it directly onto the battlefield doesn't count as "playing a land", so you still get to make your land play for the turn. This is the main reason why cards like Knight of the White Orchid, Rampant Growth, etc. are good. You can get two lands onto the battlefield in a single turn instead of just one. Either of the plays described in your original question are perfectly fine.
