Can you chain Aetherworks Marvel?

Asked by Bockduck 6 years ago

Lets say I have +12 energy.

I got a Aetherworks Marvel on the battlefield. I active it and casts a spell for free. I play ANOTHER Aetherworks Marvel so the legendary rule accurs and I sac the first one. Can I now activate the new one? Is this a viable move?

Yes you can do that. IF you have enough energy. From the initial Marvel going to the yard you'll get two energy. The initial Marvel will see itself going in for 1 energy and the second Marvel will see it as well getting 1 more energy.

Yes, that's fine, and it's an important line of play for a Marvel deck. Non-creature permanents don't have "summoning sickness", so they can activate any of their abilities with in the cost on the same turn they enter the battlefield.

Remember that when you put the first Aetherworks Marvel into the graveyard, the first ability on both of them will trigger and you'll end up getting back 2 energy.

Just a note:

The Legend Rule doesn't actually cause you to sacrifice anything. Aetherworks Marvel is just put into the graveyard as a state-based action. This can be important if you have something that triggers "whenever you sacrifice a permanent." Same goes for the Planeswalker Uniqueness Rule.
