Can I cast cards from exile as many times as I want?

Asked by Dredgar 7 years ago

When cards are exiled with Nightveil Specter, Fiend of the Shadows, and Praetor's Grasp, can I cast them as many times as I want? Given they are instant or sorcery. Or do they go to the controllers graveyard after I have cast them?

The first step to cast a spell is to move the card from the zone it is in to the stack. This means that as soon as you cast one of the cards exiled with any of those that it will no longer be exiled and you can not cast it again.

The spells will eventually resolve or be countered and go where they normally would in that scenario. Most of the time this will be the graveyard, but with cards like Day's Undoing that exile themselves or counters like Dissipate they may be exiled again from the stack. If a card is exiled again instead of going to the graveyard it is a new object in exile and will not be castable again.

Thank you so much! That exactly what I needed to know.

Note that the exiled cards, when cast, go into their owner's graveyards, not the controller's.
