Can I answer Ethereal Haze with direct damage?

I have 2 Jagged-Scar Archers (currently 7/7). I use the first one to deal 7 damage to my opponent's Righteous Valkyrie, who responds casting an Ethereal Haze. At that point I assume I can respond activating the second archer to actually kill the Valkyrie before the Ethereal Haze resolves. Is that correct? Thank you!

Yes. The abilities can be activated at instant speed, and as long as Ethereal Haze hasn't resolved yet, it won't help.
They could stop your Jagged-Scar Archers temporarily by casting Haze first, but it's not a good situation to be in.
