Can I activate Lethal Vapors to skip my next 50 turns?

Asked by chosenone124 7 years ago

Suppose I have Lethal Vapors.

I play Worst Fears on my opponent. Then on their turn I have them activate 50 times. Will they skip their next 50 turns?

Um... Yes. That should work.

There's nothing stopping a player from activating Lethal Vapors's ability more than once, and since it's not a targeted ability, it will still resolve even if Lethal Vapors has left the battlefield.

Keep in mind this will only work if your opponent is being incredibly stupid (or doesn't know the rules well), since after you cast Worst Fears they will know that you get to make bad choices for them on their turn and can just get rid of Lethal Vapors before their turn rolls around. (You still get control of whatever turn they take next.)

Also, if they do not know the rules well, let them know they have that option before you start a fight. If you're not playing a tournament, at least.

There are ways for me to make sure that my opponent's don't have time to react. What first comes to mind is Suppression Field. An opponent would need to pay 2 mana to activate Lethal Vapors in response to Worst Fears.

And of course, I can always take control of their turn, and flash Lethal Vapors in at instant speed using a variety of cards like Leyline of Anticipation, Alchemist's Refuge, and Vedalken Orrery.

I could force them to use a removal spell on Academy Rector, or attack in a way that I can chump with Rector. Or I can use Hex Parasite and Lost Auramancers. There are an insane number of ways to make sure that your opponents can't stop the "never play ever" combo

Well then that is evil, and I love it.
