If a creature is being blocked but then the blocking creature is removed from combat via exile, destroy etc does the attacking creature continue to deal dmg to defending player or planeswalker? exampleplayer A's Dutiful Thrull blocks Player B's Alms Beast but after declare blocker's step player B activates devouring light exiling player A's thrull does the battle continue or does the battle "fiizle", stop etc

Please don't post the same question twice. Also, make sure to link all cards in your question.

Once blockers are declared, each creature that was blocked remains blocked regardless of whether or not its blocker is removed. This means that if that creature does not have trample, it will assign no combat damage. There is no such thing as combat "fizzling", it just proceeds as normal (with the exception of the blocked creature dealing no damage).

Note that you cannot "activate" Devouring Light , you cast it as a spell.

What he said.

Also, two things about wording.

To fizzle is to be countered by game rules for having zero remaining legal targets. Only spells and abilities that target something can fizzle.

You can only activate activated abilities. You don't activate spells. You cast them.
