Can Eldrazi Displacer save a Runaway Carriage?

Asked by FierceTierce 8 years ago

If I have a Runaway Carriage and an Eldrazi Displacer out and I attack with Runaway Carriage, can I wait until damage has been dealt, then respond to Runaway Carriage's triggered ability by blinking it and keep it from dying?

Yes you can!

When you 'Blink' the Carriage in response to its ability, it will leave the battlefield and re-enter as a new permanent. When the ability then tries to make you sac the carriage, it cannot find the original carriage and does nothing

yes, because players get and pass priority after damage is dealt and before the end of combat step, so once damage is dealt if you put the Displacer's ability on the stack and it resolves, the Carriage will be blinked and enter as a new object who didnt attack and wont be sacced.
