Can activated abilities set of other activated abilities?

Hi there

Just picked up a starter pack yesterday alongside the completed deck staring Dovin, Architect of Law.

He alongside other creatures in the deck have abilities that tap other creatures.

My question is: Does the activated ability of a creature like Llanowar Visionary activate if it is tapped by an other cards activated ability like that of Elite Arrester or the second ability of Dovin, Architect of Law? -and is there another interaction if the creature being tapped belongs to my opponent?

No--if a creature has an ability whose activation cost includes being tapped, you only get the activation if the creature is tapped specifically to pay the price of that ability.

However, you can activate abilities in response to other abilities, provided it is legal to do so.

So, let's say your Llanowar Visionary is targeted by Elite Arrester. When Elite Arrester's ability is on the stack, but before it resolves, you can activate Llanowar Visionary's ability and add .
