Any time you could play a sorcery...

Asked by Colten_Lee 9 years ago

Okay so there are quite a bit of spells and abilities that say you can only use it any time you could cast a sorcery... So if I were to cast Quicken on my opponents turn, could I use one of these spells/abilities??

No.

"Any time you could cast a sorcery" is MTG shorthand for "during your main phase while you have priority and the stack is empty." The meaning of this phrase never changes, even if the times at which you could cast a sorcery change.

Oh okay, so I was just looking too much into it. Thanks though

It's one of those wording quirks that I wish would be overcome somehow, but I can't think of a better way to write it.
