Act of Treason + Switcheroo - is it permanent control?

Asked by Nalgaeryn 9 years ago

If I cast Act of Treason, or any other similar card (Portent of Betrayal) that gives me control until end of turn, then I cast Switcheroo and give back the creature I just stole, do I get to keep the creature I just Switcheroo'd permanently, or until end of turn? It's vaguely like taking control until end of turn and then sacrificing the creature.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

Let's say you cast Act of Treason on Grizzly Bears. You'll take control of Grizzly Bears until the end of turn. If you cast Switcheroo and exchange control of Grizzly Bears (which you currently control) for control of another target creature your opponent controls, then you will gain permanent control of the second creature. Switcheroo's effect doesn't define a duration, so it lasts indefinitely. You won't regain control of the creature you stole using Act of Treason, but this interaction effectively allows you to take permanent control of one of your opponent's creatures without giving up any of your own as long as your opponent controls two or more creatures.

Not exactly sure what you're asking but I'll try to give an answer.

Your opponent has a Siege Rhino and a Satyr Wayfinder, and you Act of Treason the Saytr. Then you cast Switcheroo targeting the two above creatures, you getting control of the Rhino. At the end of your turn, nothing happens as Satyr Wayfinder is already back under its owner's control. The Siege Rhino stays with you, since Switcheroo's effect is permanent.
