New Hub: Dark Depths

Dark Depths: A Deck archetype where the primary win condition is to remove all of the ice counters from Dark Depths to create Marit Lage, a legendary 20/20 black Avatar creature token with flying and indestructible. The most common ways of accomplishing this goal is via Vampire Hexmage or by copying it with Thespian's Stage . Both result in a Dark Depths with no ice counters on it, and thereby triggering it's ability to sacrifice it to create Marit Lage.

I'm going to do a bit of research on the variety of Dark Depths decks and frequency of use before I confirm this one, but I'm thinking it works as a hub. It was viable enough to get a card banned, but I never personally used it. Missed my chance.

It's a solid Legacy archetype. There's two main variants of the deck, Slow and Turbo. I guess with the new Marit Lage's Slumber it could resurface in Modern.

The only way I could see Marit Lage's Slumber working in modern is maybe a scapeshift control deck using it? But why use it over Valakut?

A control deck would suffer more each color you added to it if this were your wincon. Jeskai would be cool but it would be near impossible and you'd have to run so many basics oof.

A turbo fog deck could be interesting with it though.

Did research, got distracted by life, forgot to add it, just changed that. Dark Depths is now a hub.
