External links not working

Whenever I try an external link in the deck description using either of the below methods, the link doesn't work and the link text disappears.

Is there a workaround for this, or a preferred method?

I have the same problem, when I try to create a link using either syntax it disappears. The example link to google from the formatting tips doesn't work for me. When inspecting the delivered html, there isn't even an element where the link should be.
