Combo Feature Not Working

The system for cards is a set of double brackets around the card name. When covering combos in the deck, you put double brackets around a set of cards with addition symbols in between each card. I have a combo that requires 4 total cards, yet it does not appear to be working. Is there a way to get it to work, or is there a limit on the number of cards in a combo?

It's limited to 3 for now but we could change that. What's the combo

The combo is for an EDH Dredge deck. Golgari Grave-Troll, Underworld Breach, Gitaxian Probe, and Olivia's Dragoon. Play Underworld Breach, cast Gitaxian Probe, dredge Grave Troll, discard troll, repeat for as much life/library that you can.

I originally had the 3 without the Dragoon for a combo, and it was working, but after checking the combo page, I decided that I needed to at least make sure the discard outlet was considered.

I do not think this limitation should be changed. This was decided upon long ago primarily because it helps limit what could enter the database, and makes the database more manageable. The number of 4+ card combos far outweighs 2 card and 3 card combos to such a degree that most players don't bother trying to remember a single 4 card combo.

Beyond that reasoning are sort of deckbuilding philosophies. You are rarely ever going to build a deck around a particular 4+ card combo, and even if you do, that deck is going to be incredibly inconsistent and fragile. Decks focused around 3 card combos are already not great for various levels of play beyond EDH or casual.

So in short, restricting combos to 2 or 3 cards only is good because:

  • There are far too many 4+ card combos to make it worth while categorizing them all.
  • Helps keep database work at a minimum, which is manual and we still have 25,000 combos to go through and review.
  • Power level, inconsistency and deck space they take up makes them not incredibly useful to have data for.
  • General dismissal of 4+ card combos by players throughout magic history resulting in a lack of attention towards them, meaning that they wouldn't be used that much.

Alright. I did not know if the combo not being counted was a feature or a bug, which is why I brought it up.

OtherWorldlyShadow did you know that you could submit a combo with a category and description attached to it? You as an upgraded user, can do that. Go to any card page, Isochron Scepter for example, and scroll down to the combos part. There should be, above the list of combos, a little green "suggest" button. Click that.
