So let's assume for the sake of argument that Azorius falls under Bolas's influence; which implies that the guild is under the control of a planeswalker; a UW walker to boot.

If that happens...and Azorius continues to be well suited for a control player; we may have two very powerful control walkers in Standard; with Teferi and this unknown walker (Dovin perhaps?)

Which begs the question: Would Teferi be under the gun for a ban to keep Control from overrunning the format?

No. There's a finite number of powerful walkers you can run. The new ral is also good. If Jeskai ends up being good, is not like you're going to end up seeing 4 copies of Teferi and Ral in those decks. Besides, assassin's trophy is a powerful answer to walkers at the moment and we still have sorcerers spyglass.

The recent standards have made people pretty scared of bans, but they're actually incredibly rare.

I echo what Arvail has said, but to add a few:

  • It is hard to hypothesize what could be in the future set 3 months ahead of time and it limits your enjoyment of what already is going on in Standard.

  • Bans are incredibly rare and there are no single cards that stand out as overpowered currently (sans Assassin's Trophy, but that is a dark horse at best)

Could a card that may or may not exist of which we have no idea of the abilities of cause a card that is not a problem but which people find frustrating to be banned?

I mean, how are we supposed to answer this with anything other than "not enough information to know at this moment"?

-says nothing and waits for Nexus of Fate to be banned because Wizards doesn't like memes-

Unmoored Ego is a powerful enough card to keep Nexus in check in case you weren't joking.
