Possible Pioneer Challenger Decks pricing?

Looking for how should I say it..."second opinion" on the Pioneer Challenger decks pricing. I was hopeful to pick on of them and by looking at the decklists was expecting something in the vicinity of other Challenger decks (30-40$) but yesterday my LGS listed them at 55$ a pop for pre-order which is just not worth in my opinion.

Have your LGSs put them up for pre-order and at what price. And if they are truly 55-60$, would you still pick one up?

€ 174,95 for all four, € 49,95 per deck (NL-EU). The purchase prices of a case of 8 decks (2 of each) are pretty steep.

Would you pay that much for a "modern challenger deck"? Pioneer has more cards legal in it than Standard, the regular Challenger decks. This usually means the wanted cards are more expensive as well. (I haven't seen deck lists though, I'm just going through the motions of format deck pricing in between Standard, Modern, Legacy and Vintage and where Pioneer should fit among them)

Pioneer being a non-rotating format though, means your investment should stay relevant for longer than the Standard Challenger decks would get you. Just on format philosophies I'd think it's kinda right to pay a bit more.

plakjekaas Well, if you were to check the decklists you'd see that each of the 4 decks had at time of announcement between 85-90$, which usually translates to 40-50$ tops by the time they've been on the shelves for two or three days.

If we take Commander precons as an example the decks at announcement had roughly 90 to 120$ of value, dropping to 74 to 90$ at release day and were being priced 39,99$.

Eternal or not would you pay 60$ to get 50$ worth of value?

Seems you don't need the second opinion anymore, you're a firm believer in your first one, hope the opposite perspective helped you made up your mind ;-)

I might have argued differently if I'd looked up the lists beforehand. I've seen them now, and I think you're right about them. As soon as buying the singles is more profitable than buying the preconstructed product, it's clearly not worth it.
