Introducing Themes!

Site Updates forum

Posted on May 4, 2022, 12:14 a.m. by Femme_Fatale

Themes have been a long requested feature for the site, to upgrade visuals and to let users personalize their viewing experiences more.

To access a theme, click your profile icon, the little headshot of a person. Near the button you'll see a tab that says "Themes". Hover over it and you'll be able to choose from among the available themes.

There are three themes presently to choose from. Classic, Light and Dark.

Themes are a work in progress and there's many places in this site that they may not be properly attributing to, or somethings may be glaringly out of place. Give us feedback with what you see so we can make the themes look nice!

I change back to classic but every time I open the page just goes back to dark mode on mobile

The underscore lines are fixed

The Red is back in the notifications

And the ad problem is fixed

But the deck builder/deck edit section, in there where you can click "main" "side" and "maybe" are all half out of the box. That problem still remains.

The other problem with what I mentioned in conment #37 is different now. Instead of it showing login, it shows a red oval above both messages, and notifications. In addition to this all three buttons for folders, messages, and notifications are not working when on that page.

Android Dark mode

We are working on card pages, and should be fixed soon. shadow63, wallisface let me know if now it's saving your theme selection.

Going back to an earlier comment I made, for comments that I can't like (my own comments or ones I've already liked), the counter is still white on white for dark mode Android.

It's pretty cool, but it keeps changing back to dark every time I log in again (on mobile too). I'd like to keep the classic one and not have to change it every time I log back in. But no big deal, I guess I can get used to it.

Ardees we sent a fix some hours ago for this issue, is it still happening to you? If it is, can you tell me the mobile browser you are using? Thanks!

The ad issue is not fixed for the mid crawl ads when another popup window is overlaid atop them. I’m in Dark mode on mobile, using IOS/safari browser.

Whatever changes were made to the site have been applied to my currently modified deck pages messing with the looks of some of my pages. Any way I could make adjustments without having to change the code work I’ve already done to them?

ivaggione says... #12

KayneMarco are you having issues while using the classic theme? Because nothing should have changed for that one.

Ardees says... #13

ivaggione I am using chrome. I just reopened tappedout and getting the dark theme back, so apparently is not entirely fixed.

Neat! Looks good!

ivaggione: I didn’t change anything. Just logged onto to the site and saw the changes and then checked my deck pages and saw that whatever changes were made apparently applied to my deck pages as well.

Tested mid page moving ad issue again and it seems to be completely resolved! Thank you to all those involved in the site update(s) :D

I don't know if this is the best place to put this but I have noticed that since the update, I haven't been able to use the "add card to a collection" button.

Everybody here now realizes this isn't Dark Mode.

  • Its Etched mode, as in the etched foils that have been a thing in recent sets ;)

One benefit I think we are all overlooking with Light mode is that, if you have bad eyes, it's essentially free LASIK eye surgery since it burns your retina clean off.

Joking aside, Light mode does actually look very sharp and would be perfect in low-light situations, such as at the movie theater where haters gonna hate.

No, I'm just playing. Light mode is really nicely done and also deserves love and respect <3

Dark theme looks good, I miss the old brown texture though not gunna lie. Would love to know how that was generated, or based on an img etc.

Android here.

Something I noticed is that when I click on the profile icon, and move to Themes, rather than a drop-down menu appearing to select which theme I'd like to apply, it actually redirects me to the top of this thread - seemingly regardless of where within Tappedout I currently am browsing.

In order for me to select a theme, I must actually long-press until the Android options open up, such as "Open in new tab" and "Copy link" and whatnot. Then, I can back out of the Android site options, and now the Tappedout theme drop-down menu works.

  • Update: The redirection either appears to be random, or only redirects on specific pages. I'm not quite sure. Some locations, such as within forums, redirects here. Other locations, such as user deck lists and the front page, do not. Regardless, in all instances I must long-press to get the drop-down menu to appear.

Hey everybody, I have an update for Light mode!

Okay so I was playing around with my phone settings and was lowering the brightness to see at what point the glare went away. Then I remembered Eco Mode is a thing most, or all, phones have.

If you turn Eco Mode on and the phone automatically adjusts to a specific brightness level, Light mode REALLY FRIGGEN POPS and is very crisp and sharp.

Seriously I'm not trolling here. Try Light mode with Eco Mode on.

Now you can browse Tappedout and save on your phone battery, too! ;D

In Light Mode, when I hover menu options the 'highlight' for the option my mouse is on is white... with white text. As long as I know what I am moving to its fine, but I don't know what I am on. Should the 'highlight' be grey instead of white to provide contrast and legibility?

My ranking:

  • Dark (this is so vibes. A subtle change but looks sleeker and less rustic than classic)

  • Classic (I've come to love the old look, and it lends a certain familiarity.)

  • Hell Itself (I'd rather have this than Light Mode)

  • Light Mode (my eyeeeeeeeeeees!!!! In all seriousness it reminds me of that html glitch the site used to have lol nostalgia, still a valid option though)
