Find New Decks to Build From Your Inventory

Ever need to throw together a quick deck for a friend joining the game out of your collection?

The Find Decks feature in your Inventory isn't a new one, but it has been overhauled and it is much improved. If you've got an inventory synced on this site, give this feature a try--feel free to suggest things that make it more useful.

Hello,
This seems like an amazing feature!

Where do I find a guide on how to import my inventory to this site?
thank you

MagicMarc you could import via csv if you'd like, check out that option. It should be easy to use but get back if you need help.

I apologize for more questions;

If I have decks loaded here on T/O then I can use the "sync with inventory" checkbox in the deck builder to add them automatically to my inventory if i want?

I did not even know that was what that particular checkbox was for!

So, for any decks I also have analog copies of, I can just checkbox them and it will get added to my inventory?

Yep that will also work

The feature I truly wish for is "what deck of mine has card ____ in it?"

I have literally 50+ decks (hello, my name is machineghost, and I'm a commander addict). Every now and then when I build a new deck I want to steal a card from one of my other decks for it ... but with 50+ decks it's a real needle in a haystack problem to figure out which deck I put that card into.

It would be so handy if there was a way to search through all your decks to find the one(s) with a particular card in them.

Seems easy you sync with inventory then you pull it up in your inventory and it links to the collections where it appears

Two thoughts. First ... and this is totally just my personal problem ... many of my 50+ decks are not synced. That checkbox isn't checked by default, so I'd have to go back and check it for 30-40+ decks.

But the bigger issue is ... I've used this site for years and never figured out how to do what you suggest. The UI is NOT intuitive, and I think anyone looking to do what I am trying to do ISN'T going to go sync every deck to inventory and then magically know that if they go to a synced card's page they'll see the deck ...

... they're going to look for a "Deck Search" feature, ie. a feature where you can search for decks (by specifying cards inside them). I truly think such a feature would be an improvement to the site.

Well there's a 'restrict to inventory' feature on the card search but if you don't have your inventory added that's a no go. if you don't want to sync the decks i guess i don't really know what to say... :) i would just try syncing the decks that you have and try it out.

I think you're missing my point. If a website hides some functionality in a tiny corner of their site, where no one can find it, it doesn't do anyone any good.

If I want to answer the question "what decks of mine have Commander Sphere in them?" NO NORMAL PERSON is going to think "well clearly the logical way to answer that question is to add all my decks to inventory, then go to the Commander Sphere card, then click on my decks (which I somehow magically know will be there)."

I'm not arguing whether the feature is bad: I'm saying that no one except a heavy user of the site, or the site's programmers, would ever think of answering their question the way I just described.

In contrast, I would imagine that every other person trying to answer that question, just like me, would try to find a "Deck Search" feature.

Don't know about normal people, I am just telling you how you can find a solution to what you are looking for today. Your feature request that is unrelated to the topic has been received. thank you.

To be fair, I'm asking for a deck search to find decks from my inventory (by card), and the title of this thread is "Find Decks from your Inventory", so ... it's not really completely "unrelated to the topic".

It seems a little warm in here.

I’ve been using a supporting tapped out going back 7 years. I’ve only ever really played EDH and I only play in paper casually. I am not on Twitter or the Facebook or Insta or whatsever. I use tappedout to build and goldfish before I assemble in paper and to save and archive current and retired decks. It probably took me a year figure out how to link to a card from a post. I only figured out how to add my decks to inventory maybe a year ago. Now that I have, I visit my inventory page on a regular basis. I wish there were other easier ways to add inventory for cards not in an active decklist, like a drop down to select and add an entire set. I guess you just add the whole set as a deck. Look at that, I just solved my own problem in real time. Now how do I fill that column on inventory that is all zeroes without manually clicking every checkbox. Not easy on an iPad.

My point is, you do have to dig a little to get gold out of tappedout (and finding the user guide is not as easy as it probably should be). My other point is, this new feature sounds cool and I’m definitely going to work on adding my unplayed cards into inventory so I can try this out.

Wow! This is such an amazing feature! Thanks for the addition here! <3

I added my 1,600+ cards last night and now am ready to roll for whatever I need for quick sessions with friends. More than nice!

As I'm too old for all formats I only need "Legacy" here. I'm already impressed about the proposals as well as the detailed description texts. Also kudos to yeaGO for making this happen! :-)

Hello,

I would like to suggest a couple of changes. It would be nice to be able to compare your inventory to all formats at once, and to omit decks that are all lands.

I love the tool otherwise yeaGO, thank you for making it.

Incase anyone needs this tip. I used the Delver Lens MTG app on Android and added over 1500 cards to my inventory in a couple hours, then exported them via text file to tappedout. All of my cards are here, and I can do unlimited searches including comparing with my inventory. Just a thought for anyone stumbling across this tread.

How robust is this Deck finder? If you own 99 of the cards for a deck but are only missing a single card, will it not return any results? Or must you have 100% of the cards in your inventory? Some sort of feature which returns the highest percentage of cards in your collection might not go amiss.

No it will tell you how much you are missing. Feel free to play around and share results
