Pauper deck building challenges?

Pauper forum

Hello, I just recently started trying to brew pauper, I've been interested in the format for awhile but never had the initiative. I prefer chaff decks over anything else and I was wondering if there were any fun deck building challenges floating around the community?

For pauper specifically, there are a lot of cards in the pool, so deckbuilding is a treasure trove in the format and the meta is constantly evolving.

There are several things I can think of - Combo decks (most combo decks in pauper require 4+ cards to combo off), building around a certain card (for example, Tortured Existance is a great value engine and there are a myriad of ways to build a deck with it), incorporating a certain thematic.

For example: The recent masters set, as all do, shifted Resurrection to common. Choose any card that was shifted to common in Ultimate masters and make a deck around it.

I'm a big fan of brewing myself, and I LOVE weird, wacky, janky decks with obscure cards in them. Hence why I have like 40 pauper decks (yes, in paper).

I (and my friend eyes2sky) have had tons of fun brewing multiple decks around Bloodbriar . We've got about a dozen and I'm working on two more as we speak.

I have a folder full of janky decks that might inspire you. Some of them are actually pretty good decks, most are strictly for fun.

And if you want specific challenges, I have not yet brewed a decent creatureless deck in pauper, nor have I built a 4-color deck that I am satisfied with. If you did that, I know I'd be impressed. =)

There's a ton of interesting pauper cards to build around though, so if I think of any more, I'll return.

Try building a deck with all one-drops...I have 2 and they actually work and are fun to play.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I have a lot of decks to take a look at and try to make! Gattison Bloodbriar is what brought me to pauper, trying to make Bloodbriar/Lunarch Mantle work to some degree. Flooremoji eyes2sky I will def try your challenges but promise no great resulting decks!

Who cares? All that matters is if you have fun! :)

On a side note, please show me your Mental Discipline deck-- I haven't been able to finish one yet.

I'm basically gonna mimic Flooremoji here:

I agree it's all about fun! I actually look at pauper as a "smaller" form of EDH, if only because I view them both as "for fun" formats. In both formats you can brew all types of unique decks, get them to actually function (on a certain level), and enjoy playing them. To me, that's one of the most "fun" parts of MtG.

Also, I would like to check out your Bloodbriar deck. We call him Brian , btw. lol. =P
