The following cards have been downshifted and will be Pauper legal when M25 is released.
Ainok Survivalist
Assembly-Worker
Balduvian Horde
Borrowing 100,000 Arrows
Cinder Storm
Court Hussar
Crimson Mage
Dragon's Eye Savants
Fencing Ace
Frenzied Goblin
Geist of the Moors
Ghost Ship
Hordeling Outburst
Jackal Pup
Loyal Sentry
Pillage
Relentless Rats
Ruthless Ripper
Savannah Lions
Skeletonize
Some of these will certainly see play in current brews or will inspire new ones. Which of these are you most excited about? I'm really happy about Ruthless Ripper, Fencing Ace and Loyal Sentry. Gattison is probably psyched about Hordeling Outburst !

I wonder how 38 Relentless Rats will do in pauper.

I'm looking forward to Frenzied Goblin too, but Crimson Mage looks cool also. A lot of these will end up getting used by me eventually, I'm sure.

ClockworkSwordfishI'm brewing a rats deck in my head now...but is it worth the $50+ to buy into it? I'd like to see what the Pauper community comes up with.
Gattison Loves all the red ones obvi
xcnThe Hussar looks good, but limited due to color restrictions and it will not survive blink effects. Still though it's worth a play-test, not much else in Pauper can do what it can do.

I would say, "generally, no way." You have far more control over Distant Melodys conditional effect than you do the other.

That being said, maybe your Salt Mine Prison Escape deck, or one like it, could mainboard Borrowing 100,000 Arrows?

Gattison Good idea adding 100,000 Arrows to Salt Mine Prison!

With Hordeling Outburst available, may pull this out and give it another shot:

I'm thinking lose some of the artifacts and sac effects and bring in Outburst and Impact Tremors.

Pauper ((Relentless Rats)) brew? I always want this card to shine, but how many rats and what support would be needed?

This is the build I have: Relentless Devotion (mtgo).

I tried a build with more Rats and Dark Ritual, it was fun, but clearly lacked the interaction.

Dorotheus, what do you think of the new Rat Colony card? It is a Relentless Rats with 1 less Toughness and costing 1 less mana to play with the same bonus for quantity.

Rat Colony
Well it's not going to be pauper legal yet....but, I think they did a good job 'powering up' relentless rats in a way that works better just with the creature type and not just the name but also more fragile, like they really should be and still present a sensation of overwhelmingness, not in pauper I believe that Pack Rat and Renlentless Rats are both just better for their own reasons, but Rat Colony having basically no survivablity against more things like simple cards, eg. Shrivel make it miles worse, almost like Rat Colony could have been the pauper card and Relentless could still be an uncommon, but it's rewarding for draft? I suppose.
