MTG Arean: Cards to prioritize with Wildcards

Online Magic forum

When the next set releases, WOTC announced that cards will cost double wildcards to redeem with the historic format. With that being said, what cards should be prioritized with my wildcards? I just used up all my rare cards to finish of my set of lands, but I have 20 mythic cards I can use to increase my collection there as well. The only prominent mythics I have playedable sets for are 4 Big Teferi, 3 Vivian from M19, 4 Karn from dominaria , and 3 carnage tyrant. I am not planning on using all of my mythic cards, but thought I should get my hands on a few important cards now before rotation. We can evolve this discussion to involve all levels of cards people should focus on so everyone can prioritize rares, uncommon, and commons as well. Thanks

Your asking people to predict the future. I would concentrate no stuff that's good outside of standard if I had to guess on what to get. Modern changes with every set release this new format will be no different

I was not sure if anyone remembers what cards were popular prior to the ravnica block being released. That way I could have a hunch on what to prioritize.

Rekindling Phoenix , History of Benalia , Nicol Bolas, the Ravager  Flip, Zacama, Primal Calamity are by far the top mythics of the rotating sets, together with T5feri, Karn and carnage tyrant, which you already have.

Really? Zacama, Primal Calamity does not seem standard playable and especially not historic playable.

On another note ARE THEY FREAKING TRYING TO KILL HISTORIC A MONTH BEFORE IT EVEN COMES OUT! I play lots of wild in hearthstone so I figured I would enjoy historic but now that this stupid 1:2 ratios has been revealed I think I'm joining the cash grab bandwagon. Can't wait to hear what rant Tolarian Community College puts on youtube.

As for cards I would just look at the current top tier decks and craft all the important cards so every check land, and core cards for tier 1 and 2 decks and any other decks you may ever want to play.

ON the other hand screw them and just play standard only!

Zacama is especially unique and powerful in a standard environment. It is in the top of rotating mythics that I have highlighted, though it is number 8. If I had to rank my list:

  1. Karn
  2. Teferi 5 mana
  3. Rekindling phoenix
  4. Carnage Tyrant
  5. History of Benalia
  6. Nicol Bolas, the ravager
  7. Vivian 5 mana
  8. Zacama, primal calamity

Thanks for the input everyone. I am definitely not too excited about the double cost for the cards so I always want to have my options open to play any format that is available. I got my lands just in case I do decided to dive in once it starts. Should I just make sure I have a RDW deck since that is always a thing! Lol

If you like RDW I guess.

Not a huge fan, but more as a joke since no one really likes going up against it

Well then don't craft it I would say.

EVERYONE should YELL in forums until Wizards cancels their plans to force us to have more fun by costing double wild cards! WE DON'T WANT THAT MUCH FUN!
