Protecting Artifacts from Prismatic Ending

I have this wee pet deck here, which, prior to the existence/popularity of Prismatic Ending did pretty awesomely - but is now finding itself in a troublesome situation.

What’s the best way for me to defend my board against that card? So far the best I can think of is Spellskite mainboard, and some Blacksmith's Skill in the sideboard - but i’m hoping there’s better options out there that i’ve missed.

Any suggestions or ideas are much appreciated. I get that this archtype is probably dead-in-the-water while Prismatic Ending remains as popular as it is, but it doesn’t mean we can’t try!

I feel like countermagic is the way to go! It's not dead outside of protection, there are some efficient options in the format, and you're in blue... seems viable.

As far as options go, Flusterstorm, Miscast, Spell Pierce, Swan Song, even Turn Aside work for your situation.

Omniscience_is_life That is actually some great advice! And these spells are defo better options than Blacksmith's Skill.

I'll probably look to add in 3ish Swan Song into the sideboard, as that seems like the most powerful of these effects, and the downside should be a non-issue for this deck. I think I'll still look to have a single copy of Spellskite mainboard (in place of the Relic of Progenitus) to Whir for in a pinch where I need to protect something.

Cheers!

You can't be good against everything, so make sure you don't dillute the deck just to fight one card. At worst it's a one for one trade, nothing too crazy.

Grubbernaut it's the most played card in the modern format at the moment, in 43% of decks. Not having an answer for it will usually mean I'm dead in the water - I can't afford to do "one-for-one-trades" with my important combo-win-pieces like Astral Cornucopia (of which I have to pump a decent amount of time/resources into to reach its required number of 4-charge-counters).

I think it's going to be hard to compete with the top of the metagame, simply put.

Grubbernaut agreed completely. The deck was in a very strong spot before the printing of Skyclave Apparition - that card caused some issues but was manageable (namely, there was only a few decks in my meta running it). But this new world we’re in now certainly puts this deck in a vulnerable position. I’m confident the deck will rise to power again at somepoint in the future, its just the case of being patient, and in the meantime making the “best of a bad situation” and adapting the deck to be as good as it can be for the current environment.

I feel your pain. I haven't even seen path to exile in a while. At least with it you got a land.
