Pyromancer Ascension in Storm?

Modern Deck Help forum

I understand that the combo doesn’t revolve around this card anymore, but I have still recently seen a few lists with 1 or 2 of these in the main board or sideboard. What exactly would this be good and/or bad against?

I am new to gifts storm and am trying to adjust to my local meta.

In matchups where the game goes longer and they aren't packing enchantment removal or consistently exiling the graveyard, it dramatically reduces the pieces needed to combo out, after a few turns of doing nothing.

It has always been a fringe piece for storm as far as I'm aware, as those requirements are hard to meet in a format where graveyard interaction is already being sided in. I'm not sure which matchups are going like that in modern right now, as it really depends on how other people are sideboarding and local metas are weird in that.

To put it differently...

Its common knowledge that storm is a graveyard deck - and as such people bring graveyard hate against it.
As a result Pyromancer Ascension doesn't solve the issue storm hase - vulnerability to grave hate.

Meanwhile Aria of Flame does all the thing storm needs.
It dodges creature removal.
It dodges graveyard hate.
