Mono-Red answer for Stony silence?

Does anyone know/have any suggestions for a Mono-Red deck with a fair amount of artifacts (with activated abilities) to deal with Stony Silence?

I decided to rebuild my Skred Red (Metalcraft sub-theme) deck back into paper and can play through stoney silence but it can be a general nuisance and slow me down.

sideboard cards that stony silence doesn't affect. what artifacts are you using with activated abilities?

The big 3 that are mainboard in my skred list is Mind Stone, Relic of Progenitus and Pyrite Spellbomb.

I seem to be having trouble creating a link that works to my deck... but if you/anyone is interested in taking a look it is displayed on my profile page named Metalcraft Skred Red.

In colorless you basically have Spine of Ish, Blast Zone, Scour from Existence, and Karn Liberated (probably missing some), of which only one is playable in modern (for the average deck). I'd recomend just splashing if at all possible, but if you want the deck to remain mono red or there is somthing else preventing you from changing color- Blast Zone is your best answer.

Alternativly you could try out Dragonsliver's sugestion to play around Stony Silence rather than destroy it.

I think if your opponent has sided in Stony Silence against cantrips, you're already quite ahead. As you say, you can play through it; that's a pretty poor sideboard card. I can't think of which modern deck should be doing this, but if their goal is to side in Stony Silence to slow you down, side out all but the Mind Stones for other proactive cards.

That looks like a problem with your SB to me; it looks like you don't have a lot of good options for when you need more gas. Chandra, Torch of Defiance is a good option. I like the look of the new Valakut Exploration or possibly Valakut Awakening  Flip.

I have a few more outside the box suggestions.

If you are staying mono-red there are still some more modern answers that fit more readily into your deck.

You could sideboard in Capricious Efreet. Its a little pricey but gives you an attacker/defender that at some point is going to kill your opponent's stuff.

Speaking of attackers, no one has mentioned using attacks to get rid of the enchantment with stuff like; Argentum Armor which is decent or worse, Worldslayer.

I also did not see if these were mentioned; Ugin, the Ineffable can do the job or even Meteor Golem.

Or ultimately, any creature with annihilator, like, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre.

They are all high mana cost but coming out of your sideboard for games versus the Stony Silence deck are viable options and most of them do not hurt the rest of your deck's playability.

I suppose there is always Culling Scales as a board control card. It being an artifact would synergize with your other things.

Sorry for the double post, but why exactly are you worried about being slowed down? Your deck seems built for the long haul and you'll have plenty of lands at that point to make the effects of stony silence irrelevant.

Relic of Progenitus is a sideboard card, and unless you have some infinite combo for Pyrite Spellbomb, there are better cards you could run that do the same thing.

MagicMarc: sorry man but all those suggestions are just way too prohibitively expensive for modern. you'll almost never see a cmc 5+ card outside of big mana decks like tron or titan, with the exceptions being cards that can be cheated into play. Capricious Efreet doesn't do anything until turn 7, and has a minimum 33% chance (or possibly 50% chance) to destroy your own permanent.

@psionictemplar I have never heard of Culling Scales... that just seems like a very neat card in general lol....I suppose it isn't just/only about being slowed down and more so the fact that I flat out couldn't think of a single practical means to get rid of Stony Silence (in Mono-Red) on my own; but the community as always pointed out many ways to handle it.... although its probably best just to play around/through stony silence and not worry about it... its one of those cards i forgot about and when it came down and I couldn't get my draws as i am used to it just bugged me!

@DragonSliver9001 I got the idea/guidance for mainboarding Pyrite Spellbomb and Relic of Progenitus from a primer here on tappedout. Do you have other recommendations for either utility/cantrips?

I missed the FNM tag on the deck. I agree my suggestions would not work for competitive matches.

Are the relics maindecked because of Lurrus? Seems like a meta call whether to stuff them all into the board.

Icbrgr: "cantrips" aren't something red needs to worry about. for the burn damage just use burn spells.

The bomb and relic are for metalcraft counts. If you plan on replacing them, you would need new artifacts to replace them. If you replace them with burn spells then you should probably replace Galvanic Blast as well if there is a better burn card than it without the metalcraft. Stuff like Burst Lightning or Skewer the Critics, etc.

@DragonSliver9001 I think you may be confusing colors with archetypes/strategies. Skred Red isn't a Burn/RDW deck running 16-18 mountain using Lightning Bolt/Goblin Guide to get the opponents life total to 0 ASAP.

Although its a Mono-Red deck that likes Lightning Bolt; Skred is more on the Control/Prison spectrum of Magic. They have 22 or more lands as well as mana rocks/accelerators and have 5 drop finishers like Batterskull/Stormbreath Dragon + Planswalkers. To achieve this endgame strategy Skred decks focus on restricting and denying the opponent's resources or actions via removal and mana deprivation. Scrying Sheets/Artifacts used at End of the opponents turn to dig deeper into the deck for answers/finishers are certainly welcome.

@MagicMarc I do not have the intention to remove any of the artifacts at this time. T2 Mind Stone sets up a T3 Koth of the Hammer as well as help pay for other generic costs so my untapped mountains can be used to pay for other spells, and then replaces itself in the late game if needed... Relic of Progenitus is great against so many different decks having any graveyard synergies/values and at its worst replaces itself... Pyrite Spellbomb is the least exciting IMO however; the options for an additional 2 damage here and there is nice and if needed replaces itself.

As far as Metalcraft in this deck is concerned; its honestly more of a gimmick than anything.... Galvanic Blast vs Burst Lightning or Kuldotha Phoenix vs Stormbreath Dragon... there are arguments to be made either way in both cases but I personally just found the metalcraft skred sub-theme to just be my own personal touch to an otherwise known/solved/tried and true deck.

Icbrgr im not confusing anything. but you don't need cantrips, and the only effect left on either card is burn, so i said run burn spells. been playing too long to need your explanations. that was quite rude of you to just launch into a lengthy explanation instead of simply asking.

Wild Swingis the only mono red card. Your gonna have to splash green in for Destructive Revelry
