Would it be better to utilize Smoldering Marsh es over Blood Crypt s for aggro? Ultimately, I don't want to grant a single favor to my opponents. While I have lifegain (which could regain some life lost from the Shock lands) I also feel that the amount of basic lands I use could easily satisfy the requirements of Marsh > Crypt. (My local meta features plenty of Blood Moon s.)

Why not run both?

I have G/W Aggro deck that utilizes both. It allows you to fetch the one you need for the current situation.

@APPLE01DOJ

Thank you for the feedback! I hadn't thought of that.

So, let's say we go that route; would it be better to go like this?

Love the vampires. For a rakdos build blood moon shouldn't hurt you much. If you know you'll face it search for your swamps the first turns then once Blood Moon hits all your nonbasics are now mountains. Play a fetch land and it's now a mountain, you have all your colors without even fetching.

You're playing aggro in modern, you should be prioritising having available mana over a bit of life loss. As long as you win, what's the difference between winning on two life or twelve life?

And if life loss is such an issue because of what your opponents are playing, using ETB tapped lands to help not lose a little bit of life is not a fix to the problem.
