How Should I Build DOM Cube?

Limited forum

Hey all! I think the new Dominaria looks SWEET and I want to build my first set cube around it.

Here's the thing -- I want a tiny cube, of around 240 cards, so my small playgroup can do Sealed without too much variance.

How should I build it? One of each card? Pick my favorite themes and only include cards that support them? What chaff should I cut? Thanks! Any help or input appreciated (: cheers!

Well I hate to let you down but it's looking like dominaria is gonna only be one set. After that we get the new core set then most likely another plane other then dom. Sets going forward won't follow a block pattern

But if your still set on it I'd try to find the best limited strategies (like knights and sprolings) and push those strategies maybe do one for each of the color combos that are on the lands

DOM has about 250 unique cards, so building a cube with 360 cards will be a tall order. If you want a similar experience, I would suggest:

1/ Build a 100 card minicube - perfect for any 2 player draft.
2/ Expand to a standard cube - there are a lot of cards from RIX and IXL for example that work well with DOM cards (some vampires are knights, for example and the ascend mechanic fits perfectly).
3/ Include multiples of certain cards to encourage some archetypes.

The key to building a cube is keeping it fresh, so maintaing a cool Standard cube and keeping up with rotation sounds like a swell idea.

Lol shadow63 and Boza, I misspoke. I'm totally cool with a "set" minicube -- so MUCH less than 360 is totally cool. Out of the 269 DOM cards, I'm thinking that a 240 might be the right number, so I could do 4-person Sealed.

My real question would be how to adjust the ratios of archetypes. If I cut all the garbage commons and junk rares, will my archetypes (Knights, Saprolings, etc) still show up? Or should I focus on cutting archetypes rather than individual cards?

On a related note: When I make those cuts, will I need to break singleton on archetype enablers? And so forth.

Do either of you have experience in block cubes?

Sealed will severely hinder any attempts to build archetypes, as you will just be able to get mild synergy, not the staple cards that only work in your decks.

Your best hope would be to try and force archetypes into mono colours, with the splash being for flavour/some cards, except the set isn't big enough to do that.

Well the whole set got revealed do maybe you canget some ideas. I say you identify the cardsthat you need andthe cards that you don't want to have in it then with the cards you do want in it fill in the blanks. And I I deff go with more then one copy of cards in the pool
