Debating between Legacy Elves or Legacy ANT

Legacy forum

Considering I have not EVER played Legacy format before, but I have been researching the format and slowly following it, I came to conclusion that Legacy Elves and Legacy ANT are what suits my playing style.

I like them both because:1.) Complex Variability2.) Engine combo like style

But obviously, these two decks are in the $1500-$2000 range, and I only have enough $$$ to make one.

Can anyone help me make this decision? Arguments of going for the other? Which Deck will fare well for the future to come? Which deck is vulnerable to potential weaknesses that future cards may arise? etc, etc, etc. Another reason of my liking Legacy ANT is some of the cards in there may translate in building other Legacy Decks. But for Legacy Elves, not much decks use its cards...

Play ANT because reasons.

Don't play elves because elves is stupid.

You don't even need to capitolize elves to know what deck it is, which makes it inherently bad. Real decks have capitol letters in their names.

Ok that was a legitimately bad reason to not play elves. I would build elves idk what ANT is honestly but ive been watching elves ever since I first found it I love that it can win after being behind the whole game and it wins in one or two turns of comboing. I think its a very viable deck the biggest weakness is yeah the cards dont translate well.

ANT is fairly consistent and probably can perform better with a skilled pilot more than elves just because it has the potential to go off out of nowhere, but so does elves (to a lesser extent).

From what I've seen ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils of Agony storm deck for EmblemMan) seems to be more consistent than Elves so i would recommend that.

Why don't you proxy them and feel them out?

Elves is actually one of the most consistent decks in the format.

I'd recommend proxying them or playtesting them online, better if you figure out which you enjoy more.

As for the actual decks, ANT is much more powerful and can be faster, but it also is easier to disrupt. Elves is a little easier to play and is much more consistent, but it doesn't run disruption of it's own except in the sideboard. I'd recommend both decks, fun to play and powerful. I'm more of a Tin Fins fan than ANT, but really you should just test them out and determine which is more fun.

Play them online first.
