General forum

As we all know "Sponge" tribal is by fare the best but other then sponges whats the best tribe? give your thoughts on which you think might be a candidate and promote your tribal decks to help your case. (it doesnt have to be the best tribe, could be just a tribe you like)

Haunted House. 100%

On a more serious note - goblins and merfolk, two of the older tribes, probably have the most utilitarian cards at their disposal...with humans close behind. That’s getting further into the realm of “playing to win” than I’m used to, though, so I’ll have to show myself out... ;p

August 6, 2020 6:07 p.m.

wizard tribal is a beast, once they get going every card you play get counterd just simply by them tapping some wizards. though my favorite tribes gotta be artifact creatures

My personal favorite is tribal Homunculus. I have pulled some surprise wins with these one-eyed wimps. I also like crab tribal because Horseshoe Crab. So many ways to win with that card.

It's elves. fast, cheap, effective, and consistent. They even scale into more cedh builds.

August 7, 2020 3:23 a.m.

krenko goblin tribal takes the cEDH spot for sure. but ya elves are pretty good.

August 7, 2020 3:41 a.m.

all the other cEDH decks be tryen to get there infinite combos as fast as possible and kranko be over there like "BEAT FACE"

Favorite are elves, elemental, treefolk.

Most powerful I'd have to say elves, goblins and wizards.

Best? What ever tickles your pickles.

I made a spelling mistake in a german chat and wrote "Einhörnchen" (= tiny unicorn) instead of a Eichhörnchen (= squirrel). A friend replied that he would like to see the unicorn deck. So I gave him one for his birthday.

Conclusion: Best tribes are squirrel and unicorn.

Allies are the best tribe. If you don't believe me, I'll rally one of my buddies, and we will both explain it more effectively to you.

I do hope they return in the upcoming Zendikar set

August 7, 2020 8:57 a.m.

What is meant by best? If it's the most powerful then it probably has to be Elves, but I personally really enjoy taking niche tribals and make them as strong as possible!

“Best” is relative to your goal(s). If you intend to win, probably humans or wizards or elves or something like that. If you enjoy deck building, most tribes offer lots of neat ideas to build around. Ask yourself what your aim is, and go from there.

August 7, 2020 11:49 a.m.

Balaam__ i intended this forum for both, what you think is best and whats best in your heart.

August 7, 2020 1:45 p.m.

Never underestimate crocodiles and especially turtles. Also: Minotaurs are absolutely insane. In case of interest, lists for all of these and more are on my profile.

August 7, 2020 1:57 p.m.

DeinoStinkus: Crocs are pretty powerful indeed. The deck has lots of great interactions.

"This is MYRely another tribal deck" the perfect title, im so proud of myself.

casual_competitive nice. I have my myrder deck

August 7, 2020 7:39 p.m.

I feel that the term "best" is a bit subjective, but if I had to pick one. I think Shapeshifters are the best tribe out there simply because they are the most adaptive tribe. Between clones and the "Changeling" mechanic, they can pretty much fit in anywhere with creatures and have a wide range of play styles.

August 7, 2020 7:46 p.m.

shadow63 ill have to take a look.

Barbarian_Sun_Pope the shapeshifter commander Mistform Ultimus looks like a fun build using all the best tribe cards to stack him up.

August 7, 2020 8:01 p.m.

casual_competitive whats wrong with their infinite combos?

August 8, 2020 3:55 p.m.

other than sponges, slivers are the best.

August 8, 2020 3:55 p.m.

FormOverFunction: i'd say slivers have those tribes beat at "utility" cards.

August 8, 2020 3:56 p.m.

WolfWitcher518 i dont like same infinite combos everyone uses, i like creativity, find your own infinite combo. thats my opinion anyways. if your comander causes the infinite i dont mind that either or if the infinite combo synergises with your deck, its just the over used infinite combos. play how you want its just my opinion.

Each tribe excels at a different thing. There's probably a play style that fits you but it's all going to boil down to the lords/utility.

Zombies - resilience.

Goblins - going wide.

Wizards - draw/bounce/copy/counter

Elves - generating mana

Slivers - can do everything just not efficiently or as effectively as other tribes

Dragons - best top end effects just typically slow and difficult to set up

Vampires - aristocrats. Life gain/loss

Dinosaurs - going tall and over

Eldrazi - annihilator

Humans - stax but can do a bit of everything; is one of the most supported tribes in magic history

Cats - looking cute and breaking stuff; mainly artifacts and enchantments

Knights - going tall and through. Plays super nicely with equipment

Angels - protection and combat

Merfolk - going under

Elementals- plays well with +1 counters, lands, and tokens

Theres a lot more tribes I'm just too lazy to keep going

August 8, 2020 5:31 p.m.

im impressed, ill continue in your replacment.

Insects- everything mono green does well, lands, tokens, +1

Shapeshifter- everything, copying other permanents

myr/artifact creatures- ramping, artifact synergy

Demons- sacrificing, life payment, some ability that effects the board

Faeries- enter the battlefield affects, might do well with blinking

Rats- buffing themselves, rats adding more rats

Minotaur-

Fungus/Sporling- benefits from each other dying, spore counters adding tokens

Kraken/Leviathan- enters field returning all other creatures, big and unblockable

Ally- allys have static abilities that trigger when another ally enters the field

Bears- the ability to fight other creatures

August 8, 2020 10:52 p.m.

TypicalTimmy what tribe to you go for

August 8, 2020 11:14 p.m.

Well, Squirrel Tribal is obviously the best tribal in the game. That's probably why it gets such little support.

In all seriousness, it's probably either Elves, Goblins, Cats, or Slivers.

August 11, 2020 10:20 a.m.

Squirrel Nest + Earthquake infinite squirrels? whats more powerful then that?

August 11, 2020 3:46 p.m.

Conspiracy or Arcane Adaptation or Xenograft + Turntimber Ranger makes infinite 2/2 ally wolves, 2/2s are better than 1/1s >:)

August 12, 2020 4:11 a.m.

wait, if one player had infinite 2/2 wolf tokens and the other player had 1/1 squirrel tokens and the player with the inf 2/2's attacked the other player and that player decided to block with there inf 1/1 squirrels would the 2/2 win or would it be undecided due to the never ending infinite?

August 12, 2020 5:27 a.m.

plakjekaas says... #36

Well the trick with allies is that you don't necessarily need to swing to win, you can just play Hagra Diabolist or Kalastria Healer or Halimar Excavator before you cast the Turntimber Ranger, or even after, because they're allies themselves and will trigger the Ranger when they enter.

August 12, 2020 4:40 p.m.

i have a new respect for allies.

August 12, 2020 5:13 p.m.

i wanna make my tribal even more competitive but id have to take out some tribal cards and i dont wanna.

August 12, 2020 5:17 p.m.
