What cards do MTG players as a whole dislike that you love?

For me, it has to be Dryad Arbor . While most people don't enjoy cards that break the rules and avoid removal or counterspells, something about playing a land that is also a creature is just so cool to me.

What generally disliked card do you still love despite a general dislike from the community?

God that Contract from Below power!!

Timmerian Fiends :D

I played a list that went infinite casts of Demonic Attorney and then passed to let the opponent draw a card and instantly took their entire deck. The deck ran other insane cards too, but I just love that I can take someone's deck. Forever. Legally.

I'm with SynergyBuild on this one. Demonic Attorney speaks to me on a personal level, and Contract from Below is the single best draw card ever printed (take that Ancestral Recall !). I completely understand why they were removed from the game--after all, there's lots of places where playing for ante would be illegal--but that does not mean they are not fun.

I've thought of putting together a cube with lots of Ante cards, so you're constantly getting new cards to add to your draft pool/loosing cards from your pool, requiring you to use the junk you picked up. I have not had time to give the project the attention it deserves though, so it's sitting on the back burner.

I've also said it before, and I'll say it again--any card with banding. It's a really neat ability, but just doesn't have the support necessary to make it shine. I'd love a banding-based Commander precon, but doubt that will ever happen.

I'd love to play that cube! * Crosses Fingers that Modern Horizons features new banding cards! *

Not a card, but a deck: Mono Red Aggro in Standard. :-)

Burn is the best.

Wait, people hate burn? Why? It is perhaps the most straightforward and simplest MTG deck ever: Counting to 20.

People I have played have said they hate burn because it is so simplistic and boring.

I love burn because it's the best aggro combo and control deck ever.

It is a simple proposition.

"Resolve 7 spells before turn 4."

There is also the added benefit for me to extract the rage and salt of the people playing their fully pimped out, all Japanese, foiled and autographed Dredge or Stoneblade decks.

They way they writhe when I beat them fuels my soul.

And the other best part of burn is that it is only going to get better with age. They may not print new toys EVERY set but they do quite often.

Light Up the Stage + Skewer the Critics are amazing and great examples of new toys that have been recently printed.

Armageddon

The hate for Mass Land Destruction is dramatically overinflated imo.

It turns a positive board state into a win, no different than a Triumph of the Hordes would, and it's one of the few ways to punish green ramp. I mostly play EDH these days, and green ramp is well... rampant there. Plus most players run enough mana rocks that they're not even left dead in the water after an Armageddon or similar effect, but it'll still draw hate anyhow. /shrug
